When I think of what is currently happening in Bulgaria, I can not stop thinking about probably the biggest trauma inflicted on the people of Bulgaria as a whole in the last 20 years. We were invited, motivated and pushed not to think seriously about politics and this was our least common denominator. We're capable of leading a small talk in a cab or in the grocery shop but if it comes to serious discussion we're stuck in front of a mountain of silence. this is the natural consequence of the constantly growing feeling of disgust, nausea from the dirty game of politics. Bulgarians loathe politics, they perceive them not as an indispensable instrument of governance and dialogue but only as an instrument for achievement of personal goals. They feel dispossessed of power, stripped down of any levers which can magically bring back things to normal, a deus ex machina restitutio in integrum. But in the absence of norms and a necessary common ground the dialogue is far from easy to be achieved. The political discourse is void and in order to receive/produce new significance there is a need of new legitimate voices. otherwise the road to a vicious circle of instability is open. This massive mis-interpretation of democracy has been taken for granted for too long and now, when we need to rely on established democratic practices we face more than 20 lost years. Thankfully we're very close to the moment when we'll have a collective epiphany which we'll lead to the simple realization that the feeling of collective responsibility is executed on the level of individuals

keep talking

compte rendu

it will happen  in a day like this
what will happen
it's not a matter of will
or of choice
it will happen like a rain in the afternoon
like a drop
like meeting someone somewhere
that we will disappear
without a trace
the violins will stay of course
the rest will be less than a bad memory

W.G. Sebald - The Emigrants

Breguet

  Meanwhile, attired for morning strolling
  complete with broad-brimmed bolivar,
  Eugene attends the boulevard,
and there at large he goes patrolling
  until Bréguet's unsleeping chime
  advises him of dinner-time.
